2015 Finishes

2015 was a fantastic stitching year for me, as demonstrated by the number of finishes I achieved. Admittedly a lot of these still need to be framed or made into ornaments; something I hope to achieve during 2016.

LICKLE TED - APRIL SHOWERS - 2015/34

Featured in Cross Stitch Crazy issue 110
Stitch count 86 wide by 111 high
Stitched on 16ct Iced Coffee over-dyed Aida by Fabric Flair 2 over 1
Started - 8th January 2015
Finished - 28th December 2015
Total stitching time - 34 hours 40 minutes

DSDUCJFC 2015 finish number 17

As usual I'm going to say that I really enjoyed stitching Lickle Ted and watching this whole project come together piece by piece. His shading is beautiful and the use of variegated thread for the puddles is a lovely touch.  Love it!

DECEMBER FLIP-IT STAMP - 2015/31

(awaiting "finishing")

Lizzie Kate

Stitched on 16ct Rustic Aida 2 over 1
Started - 1st December 2015
Finished - 8th December 2015
Total stitching time - 10 hours 50 minutes

I thorough;y enjoyed stitching this set of stamps and am sure I will enjoy the fruits of my labour once I eventually get around to finish-finishing them all!

OWLS IN LOVE - 2015/30

FluffyFuzzyPatterns (etsy)
Stitch count 250 wide by 152 high
Stitched on 16ct Cloud Grey Aida with silvering by Sewitall.com 2 over 1
Started - 16th October 2015
Finished - 6th December 2015
Total stitching time - 54 hours 55 minutes

This cute design caught my eye straight away and was in my possession in a matter of minutes!

I thought about changing the colours to make the owls brown on a browny-green background but decided I actually liked the monochrome look, especially after finding this gorgeous fabric from my favourite company. It's such a shame the sparkles don't show up in the photo. I am over the moon to have completed this piece. So soppy, yet so gorgeous!

NOVEMBER FLIP-IT STAMP - 2015/29

(awaiting "finishing")

Lizzie Kate
Stitch count 47 x 47
Stitched on 16ct Rustic Aida 2 over 1
Started - 2nd November 2015
Finished - 25th November 2015
Total stitching time - 12 hours 10 minutes

My eleventh monthly stamp waiting to be made into an ornament.

It's not a true Lizzie Kate as the chart was for a pheasant for Thanksgivng. But I wanted something more relevant for us Brits, hence the poppy for Remembrance Sunday.

WINTER OWL - 2015/28

UAHomeMadeStudio (etsy)
Stitched on 16ct Misty Blue Aida 2 over 1
Stitch count 88 wide by 87 high
Started - 3rd February 2015
Finished - 8th November 2015
Total stitching time - 27 hours 5 minutes

DSDUCJF 2015 finish number 16.
I have had nothing but positive comments about this cute little owl, named Wilfred, whose eyes seem to have melted the hearts of many stitchers! He was a chance find on etsy and I am so glad I purchased him.
He was an absolute joy to stitch, especially with those eyes watching me most of the time. Now all I need to do is find him a frame and he can go on my wall.

OCTOBER FLIP-IT STAMP - 2015/27

(awaiting "finishing")

Lizzie Kate
Stitch count 47 x 47

Boo ghost free chart from hobbyloco.com
Stitched on 32ct Lime Green Murano evenweave 2 over 1
Stitch Count 31 wide by 31 high
Started -
Finished -
Total stitching time - xx hours xx minutes

This was stitched for Ingrid as part of a Halloween themed goody bag exchange during our October 2015 retreat.

My second little ornament finish was better and I was much happier with the overall result.
There is still room for improvement though!

LETTER 'J' FOB - 2015/25

(photos courtesy of Justine's Cross Stitch)

Initial J taken from Lizzie Kate's ABC-razy
Boo ghost free chart from hobbyloco.com
Stitched on 32ct Tangerine Murano evenweave 2 over 1
Stitch Count 31 wide by 31 high
Started -
Finished -
Total stitching time - xx hours xx minutes

This was stitched for Justine as part of a Halloween themed goody bag exchange during our October 2015 retreat.

I am not completely happy with it, although it is not bad for a first attempt at finishing a bit of stitching into an ornament.
Justine insisted on keeping it as a benchmark against which future ornaments could be compared!

POLAR BEARS - 2015/24

Polar Bears from Young'uns by Gloria and Pat
Designed by Ruth Morehead

Finished - 13th September 2015
Total stitching time - 32 hours 50 minutes

DSDUCJFC 2015 finish number 15.

I am absolutely delighted with this finish and it is definitely one of my all-time favourites (I have a lot of favourites!) I have two other Gloria and Pat Young'uns designs started and hope to return to stitching on them soon.

HARRY POTTER RAVENCLAW CREST - 2015/23

My first Harry Potter Crest finish was an absolute joy to stitch, and unlike many of my recent finishes I actually framed it as well! Ravenclaw hangs proudly in our snug waiting for its three siblings. I'm not sure how long it will be before they appear but they will eventually!

The gold lurex aida was quite stiff to work on but compliments the picture so well. I absolutely adore the finished design and am so pleased that he framed up exactly as I wanted.
