This number-crunching geeky nerd is back again!
Thank you for your comments about my bar chart - it was a bit of light relief after all of my new starts and your opinions made fun reading.
I promised I'd be back soon with a finish, and here it is! I couldn't wait to pick her up again - probably because all I had to do was count, not concentrate on different symbols and changing colours.
This is where I left French Country Witch and how she looks now:
French Country Witch by JBW Designs
Stitched on 32ct Halloween Mist Murano evenweave from The Crafty Kitten 2 over 2
Using Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe thread Halloween Purple
Stitch count 87 wide by 47 high
Started - 27th January 2016
Finished - 2nd February 2016
Total stitching time - 7 hours 50 minutes

The hand-dyed thread has very subtle variations of colour but the photo doesn't really pick them up. Have you noticed too how her cloak contains lots of little icons such as acorns, apples, baskets, birds, cats and even a squirrel? Very clever and a lot of fun to stitch.
The piece of fabric was too big to do just this project, yet not really big enough to cut, so I plan to fold it in half and stitch something Halloween-related in the same thread on the back. Just what and when, though, is anybody's guess!

I'm now going to work towards another finish so won't be back for a few days. Which finish?
Clue: I'm feeling tired.

Keep those needles burning!

Congrats she looks wonderful! I love the fabric you chose. What if you did a graveyard scene so it looks like she's flying over it? Or if she's in the other half you can do a happy Halloween or something :)
ReplyDeleteShe looks great! I love this pattern. I hadn't noticed all the little bits in the cloak, either!
ReplyDeleteOh I know, I know! (puts hand up in style of swotty kid at school) I love your next one! I love this one too, great idea to stitch on the back. Maybe a Wizard?
ReplyDeleteCute finish! I bet by the end of February you'll have most, if not all, your January starts finished.
ReplyDeleteLovely finish! And the fabric ....perfect! You're certainly not letting the grass grow under your feet there!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the adorable finish Rachel. Your needles are flying like she is.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Woohoo! Great finish and I'll look forward to see what inspiration strikes for the back. Wording maybe?
ReplyDeleteAmazing stitching, love the fabric you are using, it's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove fabric and color - perfect for a little witch
ReplyDeleteWohoo a finish!! Great job!! Love it! I love the little motifs inside. Too cute! Can't wait to see the next one.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty finish!
ReplyDeleteThat was a quick finish! Congrats Rachel!!
ReplyDeleteNow you mention it... I see a cat and owl in her cloak, among other things! It's such a fun design! You are on a roll with all these finishes Rachel :D
ReplyDeletevery cute finish, love the fabric
ReplyDeleteCute finish !! Congrats !!:) Excited to see the next one. I am also tired, but that's not a clue that I have a finish too:D
ReplyDeleteI am working on a project which is big but there are small characters which I consider as sub-finishes as and when they are done.
I love it & can't wait to stitch it :)
ReplyDeleteGood idea about adding other designs on the fabric to complete it.
Love your finish; it looks like such a fun stitch!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see this little witch finished. I love French Country designs, they are all so special with their little motifs.
ReplyDeleteI love these little JBW projects. The motifs are what make them! I stitched 12 different alphabet cats one year and a couple of other designs.
ReplyDeleteI have a poodle chart if you want it ? Not very Hallowe'en LOL
What a wonderful design! I love the motifs in her skirt :o)
ReplyDeleteWell done on another beautiful finish :o)
Hugs xx
