At the beginning of each month I will be stitching a little calendar piece, by Palkolp, in that month's birthstone colour. This idea was inspired by Jo's People's Choice SAL Birthstone posting and from her link to a website about birthstones.
September's birthstone is sapphire:
A maiden born when autumn leaves
Are rustling in September's breeze
A sapphire on her brow should bind
To bring her joy and peace of mind.
Visit here if you would like to read little interesting snippets of information about sapphires.
Here's my version for the month:
Stitched on 16ct Glacier over-dyed aida by sewitall.com 2 over 1
Stitch count 47 wide by 47 high
Stitch count 47 wide by 47 high
Stitched with DMC variegated 121 and Mill Hill frosted seed beads 60020
Started - 2nd September 2019
Finished - 5th September 2019
Total stitching time - 5 hours 35 minutes
I loved the blue for this one especially as the darkest shade is an exact match to the sapphire in my engagement ring. More to the point though, leaves and vines are always blue, wouldn't you agree?!!
Take care,
Take care,
Rachel x
Oh gorgeous. I love the blues. My Grandmother's favorite color was blue. Congrats on the finish.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love, love, love the colors in this one! Can you tell I like blue? Mine is going to be very different this month.
ReplyDeleteI just love how the threads come out. It is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteSweet finish, gorgeous blues! Must be a cold September for blue leaves?!
ReplyDeleteI was giggeling at your closing comment as I was just thinking how odd blue leaves and vines were, while still looking great in this gorgeous blue!
ReplyDeleteI'm a September baby so obviously I love this one. I definitely need a sapphire for my brow!
