Today we reach the halfway milestone of this year's A-Z Challenge. Thanks for sticking with me, for looking, reading and/or commenting. Your continued support is very much appreciated.
So, for M we have:
Mayhem:
noun - violent or extreme disorder or chaos (in law it can also refer to deliberately injuring someone so that they are less able to retaliate, similar to maim)
origin - apparently early 16th century from the French mayhem, although only since the 19th century has it been used to describe disorder
It was not easy to find any "mayhem" charts but I did find:
Sorry About the Mess by Dimensions
Kitty Door Greeter by VeeandCo
Wonder Woman by Sue Cook (magazine chart)
My personal Ms include:
morning sickness - I suffered relentlessly with both pregnancies which is why I stopped at two children. I would have loved more but could not put myself through being that ill and hospitalised again. It was all worth though (or so my children tell me!)
musical theatre - I am a massive fan of musicals and musical theatre and, as mentioned yesterday, am particularly fond of ALW musicals. I haven't actually seen many live though; something I must rectify in my ageing years!
And my finished M project is:
Morning Song by Dimensions

This was my second ever cross stitch start and finish back in 1994. After stitching Midnight Elephant on black I decided to go for a chart on a paler background and, for some unknown reason, on the lower 11 count. Hence this is quite a big piece. I don't know how I managed it successfully, but I remember stitching directly from the colour chart without making a working copy and crossing off where I'd been. My brain definitely couldn't cope with that now!! Nor was I phased by the horrendous amount of backstitching involved; I just did it without a second thought. And no it's not an optical illusion, the inner mount has slipped. :(
Back tomorrow with a "fowl" (slight clue there) N.

PS I've reached another milestone today - this is my 250th blog post!! Wow, not bad for 25 months of blogging!
Morning Song is absolutely beautiful. I used to stitch without highlighting the chart too but can only do it now on smaller designs.
ReplyDeleteLove your take on mayhem!
Morning song is so lovely :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a milestone post. 250 posts in two years, not bad. And you are still doing great on this A-Z challenge.
ReplyDeleteAnd great charts you found for mayhem, particularly the DOG one, lol. I love Morning Glory, what a project!
I've been reading your Challenge posts every day, and although I haven't been commenting I have been enjoying them:)
ReplyDeleteIt's my busy season at work,(taxes, ugh!), so my blog time is limited to reading without commenting.
Just wanted to pop in and say hi. And also congrats on 250 posts!
Love the chart where the cats blame the dog!! :)
ReplyDeleteMorning Song is beautiful and huge. It's a shame the inner mount has slipped. I wouldn't have noticed it at first if you wouldn't have mentioned it. Beautiful work.
"M"arvelous post. Congrats on being half way! Congrats on your 250th post too!! Love your Morning Song piece. Even with the mount slip it's still gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 250 posts. So funny to see the Mayhem chart from VeeandCo, I do have that. I have never heard anyone use this word - but we do have an Insurance Company over here that has a whole string of TV Commercials warning us about "Mayhem" and why we need their insurance.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 250 posts Rachel. I really enjoy reading your blog. Morning Song is gorgeous. Love your chart choices.

Congrats on the 250! Great post morning song is beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteNice! and congrats on 250 :o)
ReplyDeleteNow that is a shoehorn! Congratulations on the 250th post, a great milestone to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteYou obviously live in a town like I do, where having "only" two children is something to comment on! Three is the average with four being common and more when you consider the blended families a lot of my friends have now.
I'm catching up on your A-Z, another fun one and sorry to see that the mount slipped on your excellent finish.
