Thank you for all of your comments on my last couple of finishes. I'm surprised by how many of you liked Cantankerous' orange fabric. When I get around to it I intend to stitch each of the 12 Cattitudes on different colours of Murano so at some point in the future you will see lots more gorgeous colours.
In the meantime, I have another finish! I chose to work on Sally Squirrel because I knew she would be a quick and easy finish.
Here's how I left her on 2nd January:
DMC Woodland Folk
Stitched on 16ct Kelp over-dyed aida by Fabric Flair 2 over 1
Stitch count 55 wide by 54 high
Started - 2nd January 2016
Finished 15th February 2016
Total stitching time - 11 hours 15 minutes
(estimated 15 hours)
The backstitching could have been a nightmare because the suggested route involved splitting the aida "squares" not only in halves but also in quarters. I wasn't prepared for all that faffing around so modified the backstitching to make it easier! I don't think it shows.
I have already decided that the 6 Woodland Folk creatures will be framed together. All I have to do is finish the other 5 - one of which is already on my frame. But as to which one it is, well, you'll have to wait and see!
Happy stitching!

Gorgeous! The backstitch looks fine to me. Sometimes I think less precise backstitch suits a design and gives a more sketchy look. She looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks for my morning fix of cuteness! Now what are you going to choose next?!
cute finish. Splitting Aida is no fun, backstitching looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhatever you did to modify, it looks perfect! Adorable finish!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another absolutely adorable finish Rachel. They will be so cute together. Would you be interested in selling the charts when your done? Please!!!!!!!

Ohhh too cute!!! The backstitching looks fine to me. I do that sometimes too. I think sometimes they just enjoy making it difficult haha. Good luck on the next one!!
ReplyDeleteCute finish! Nice to seem some finishes after all the starts too. BS on aida can be a real pain, not fun at all.
ReplyDeleteYour backstitching looks great. Very nice finish.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great Rachel! Another cute finish on a great fabric color.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute squirrel ! I really like it.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Sandra
Congrats on another finish.
ReplyDeleteCute finish, Rachel!!:) They will look great together in one frame, they are all so cute !! I mostly stitch on aida fabric only and now I got used to that kind of backstitching. We get pure cotton here with lot of starch to harden which I remove, the fabric becomes softer then and it is not hard to poke in the middle. I don't like too much of backstitching which is always there in Margaret Sherry's designs but just for the sake of the cuteness I put all my efforts and patience into it :) backstitching furry animals is a tiring job.
ReplyDeleteYay. Love her and can't wait to see the next one:)
ReplyDeleteSally looks so sweet & obviously your modifications didn't affect your finish! Congrats on another finish :) Those woodlands designs are just adorable. I can't wait to see what you'll be finishing next. More woodland cuties perhaps?
ReplyDeleteLovely finish :D Well Done
ReplyDeleteThank you for adding the estimated time. I usually modify the backstitch when it's done like that also. She's adorable. Looking forward to seeing them all.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish! I love that fabric and she looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteCute finish I love her expression. She looks so sad!
ReplyDeleteI think the backstitch looks great, another cute finish!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute finish. The backstitch looks great.
ReplyDeleteOh gorgeous! What a lovely finish - she is a real cutie!
ReplyDeleteI dislike BS on aida.... it never looks neat when splitting the squares. I think your BS version looks absolutely fine :o)

Such a lovely little squirrel girl, lol. I love her. And I can understand that you had to change the route of the backstitches somewhat. On Aida it would have been a nightmare if you had stitched them as designed.
