The blogoversary giveaway prizes have been claimed and I am glad to see so many other entrants congratulating the winners. That's how nice stitchers are. On behalf of the winners, thank you.
But..... the main reason for this posting..... I have two more Challenge finishes!
Firstly, sitting majestically on the crest of a wave is Dragon of Water from 24th January. All I had left to do were the tail, the waves and the backstitching. Once I'd picked him up I couldn't put him down so was very naughty and finished him in one stint, stitching well into the early hours. Ooops!

Stitch count 38 wide by 69 high
Stitched on 16ct Nebula hand-dyed Aida by The Crafty Kitten 2 over 1
Started - 24th January 2015Finished - 4th March 2015
Total stitching time - 10 hours 20 minutes
Secondly, Dragon of Fire from 17th January. I love his bright colours and seriously had to force myself to put him down each night instead of staying up to finish him. I might restrict the amount of sleep I have but I do need some!

On both dragons I am glad I substituted the recommended Kreinik for normal DMC. Not only do I avoid Kreinik whenever possible but I also think they look fine without any sparkle.
These two will probably sit in my box of shame until their siblings are finished which will be..... who knows when?! Then I'll decide if I am going to frame them separately or as a quartet.
4/59 Challenge pieces down, 55 to go!
Love and hugs,
Rachel x
I love all of your Challenge projects, but for me what really makes them awesome is the fabric you've chosen. You've paired each one with the perfect fabric. It's fun watching them turn into Finishes!
ReplyDeleteWow these look amazing. Well done on two great finishes. Congrats to the winners as well, I forgot to comment on that post :S
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finishes!! :) They look great!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried Kreinik and I have a project currently that is supposed to be using some 4 shades. We don't get Kreinik here and the Anchor metallic threads aren't easy to stitch with. I have a couple of DMC metallics which I haven't tried either. I am thinking of using pearl thread which may not give the glittery effect but a little bit of shining than cotton. What's your opinion?
I would be happy to send you the Kreinik if you want to try it Preeti? I've never tried pearl thread so offer any advice.

DeleteWell done!!! I agree with Annie, your fabric choice really make them stand out.
ReplyDeleteKreinik is not my favourite too and I would have never guessed you had to use it in these. They look just perfect as they are :) ..... 27 days to go!!!
Absolutely beautiful! That fabric is perfect. I love how the waves curl round on the Dragon of Water.
ReplyDeleteI don't think these need any sparkle either as they are just stunning on that fabric.

Two great finishes. And I think these little dragons don't need any sparkle, the fabric and thread colours are their sparkle.
