Autumnal Abstract - framed!

Me again fellow bloggers!

I was so excited yesterday - the frame arrived from the wonderfully efficient ezeframe.co.uk. It was hastily unpacked and drooled over before being set aside until I could assemble it all after dinner,

So, here's what you've been waiting for. Drum roll please.....

As usual, the photo doesn't quite do the finished piece justice, but you get the general idea.

And here's a close-up of the stunning frame:

The frame is 26mm Gold Leaf with a 40mm Damascus Green top mount, a 7mm Omar Brown bottom mount and anti-reflective acrylic glazing. The opening is 36cm x 26cm with the full framed piece measuring 46cm x 36cm. The total cost was £31 (bargain!) plus £6 for postage (boo!)

The mounts were quite easy to choose with the wide brown drawing the eye into the project whilst balancing the ornate frame, and the green complimenting the colours in the design.

The frame itself was a very bold decision. It was the first one I chose, although I did try out other more sensible ones for comparison. Hubby said this one looked like something you would buy at a car boot sale or find hanging in a tacky pub but my instinct told me from the start that this was the right one, despite his "support"!

I absolutely love it, but what do you think?

I appreciate that some of you will not like it and I will not take offence if you tell me so. Framing, like choosing a project to stitch, is a very personal decision and I would certainly appreciate your honesty.

The only thing I didn't do was sign and date the piece before it was framed, although I'm not sure I could have put that information anywhere that would have looked right, so I'm not that bothered really.

This weekend the children are away with their Scout Troop again so hopefully hubby and I will get some Christmas shopping done. We may even go out for a champagne dinner (a girl can wish...) Just a thought - has anyone out there tried stitching whilst squiffy? Maybe I'll do a test piece to see what it's like!!!

All the best and
Happy stitching :)
Rachel x

PS there's still time to enter if you want to win the chart. See my 19th November posting for the rules. And sorry, Linda, you can enter as many times as you like but your name will actually only be entered once - cheeky!

WOW!!!!!!! Absolutely wonderful!
The design is fab, the mounts are fab and as your hubby said, the "car boot style" frame is Fabulous!! Well, I personally love it all and wish I could have it offered to me so that I could hang it on my sitting room walls :P
I will have to look at ezeframe once I've finished my tulips.... one day!
I see Linda really love this chart, bless her :D

I think it's gorgeous! I love how you use words I have no idea what they mean since I'm over the pond from you haha. The frame is perfect and the mats are beautiful. I think the color is perfect. Even it was from a boot sale haha. By context I understand and just smile to learn new words. I stitched while squiffy once and loaded my piece in the Q-Snaps a little goofy. We all enjoyed the laugh the next day cause it looked like I had stitched it wrong but when you hold your held just right it was perfect haha.

I like the frame design just not the color. But gold is probably my least favorite color :). It matches the design though! I have stitched while squiffy as you put it I find it quite fun! :)

I think it looks amazing. The frame wouldn't be something I would choose straight out but you have absolutely gotten it to work with this piece. The frame, mats and stitching all look stunning. Well done on an amazing finish.

I absolutely adore the finish! Gold isn't my color of choice, but it looks amazing with this design. The mats compliment it beautifully as well. Fabulous job!!!!

Great job!

Wow! I am SO impressed that you ordered that frame online - knew the exact size you'd need - had gorgeous mats cut - and framed it yourself. I could not do that in a million years! And it is GORGEOUS!!

Frames by themselves often look cheesy, but you usually 'know' when you've found the right one and you definitely did! It looks amazing! Did they do the mats too or did you do them? If they did them, good color matching...that would be what I would be worried most about.

Fabulous framing! The frame and mat combo are the perfect compliment to your stitching!
I'm happy for you that you're finished with this one, but I'm going to miss the updates on it :/

That framed piece is absolutely stunning Rachel. You could not have picked it any better if you had done it in person.

I giggled every time you mentioned your hubby and your stitching. Mine has the unfortunate habbit of popping in at home at odd times during the day and usually when I have just sat down for a tea break or something with stitching in hand. I always think... why couldn't he have walked in while I was washing dishes etc but he does seem to have "perfect" timing:-)

It's beautiful Rachel. The frame and mats are a perfect complement for your gorgeous finish. Sometimes I've chosen a frame I wouldn't otherwise have chosen because it was the right match. You've spent so long stitching it...It should have the right frame!
I'll miss your updates on this one...

I think it looks beautiful, the frame really brings out the colours as do the mounts! Great choice and a lovely piece!

I do like the design but my stitchy plans are all booked up and there's no way I could get it started any time soon!
